You must submit an application by April 1st, 2019 for your child to be included in The Bronx ASCS lottery. A public charter school lottery determines the order in which students are granted admission into The Bronx ASCS. Once all available spaces are filled, names are drawn to determine the order of the waitlist. Students will be admitted from the waitlist as spaces become available. New York State law requires that we offer the following preferences (in this order): Returning students; Siblings of applying and/or enrolled students; Staff preference (max 15%); Students who live within CSD 8; Students who live outside of CSD 8. Please fill out this application form completely.
Consistent with Section 5204(a)(1) of ESEA, the NYSED Weighted Lottery Generator is designed to give slightly better chances for admission to a subset of educationally disadvantaged students. The Bronx ASCS will use a weighted lottery for English language learners (ELLs). This gives additional weight to ELL students but does not reserve or set aside seats for students in the preference category (does not guarantee a seat). Students who meet the criteria in any of the definitions listed below will be given TWO tickets for the lottery. 1) My child's native language is not English. 2) My child has difficulty with English because another language is spoken at home. 3) My child's current school has told me he/she is an English Language Learner (ELL).
